Research HeadDr. Kofi Bobi Barimah was the Foundation Dean of the Faculty of Public Health & Allied Sciences at the Catholic University College of Ghana-Fiapre where he also served as its acting Dean from 2007-2013. Before relocating to Ghana in 2003, he was the Research & Profile Development Manager at the Ontario Association of Youth Employment Centres, Toronto, Canada. Dr. Barimah has over 15 years experience in Health Promotion and Community Development in the non-profit sector in Canada both at the managerial and grassroots level. He is currently the Director of Research & Consultancy at the Ghana Technology University College.

Dr. Barimah obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Ghana, Legon; his Master of Science degree in Rural Extension Studies from the University of Guelph, Canada; his Master of Arts degree in Community Psychology from Wilfrid Laurier University, Waterloo, Canada; his Doctor of Philosophy in Public Health from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland, United Kingdom. He has research and teaching experience on three continents: Africa (Catholic University of Ghana, University of Ghana, Ghana Institute of Management & Public Administration, Ghana Technology University College) Europe (University of Aberdeen) North America (Wilfrid Laurier University, Ryerson University; University of Guelph).

 

_MG_9025Mr. George Okyere Dwapanyin joined Ghana Technology University College as the coordinator for the Office of Research Services and Innovation in October 2013. He is an Erasmus Mundus Scholar and holds multiple Master of Science Degrees in Photonics Engineering, Nanophotonics and Biophotonics from the Polytechnic University of Catalunya, Barcelona, Spain and Optics and Photonics from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Karlsruhe, Germany. He also holds a Master of Science, Technology and Health in Physics from the Aix Marseille University, Marseille France with specialization in Signal and Imaging as well as a BSc in Physics from the University of Cape Coast.

Mr Dwapanyin worked briefly with the Mosaic team of Institut Fresnel in France where he worked on nonlinear microscopy with emphasis in polarization resolved Four Wave Mixing (pFWM). He also worked briefly with Institute for Microstructure Technology, KIT, Germany he where carried out feasibility studies on Terahertz Quantum Cascade Laser for wireless communication. He was also part of the Radiation Protection Group of the Ghana Atomic Energy Commission where he assisted in measuring Radiofrequency (RF) radiations of GSM base stations in the country between 2009 and 2010. He is also an adjunct lecturer at the Faculty of Engineering, GTUC where he mostly handles courses in Optoelectronics and Optical Communication.

His fields of research interests include Biosystems Engineering, Biomedical Photonics, Biophysics, Nonlinear Optics and Nuclear Radiation Protection. He is a member of a number of bodies and organizations including Biophotonics world, Optics Students of Karlsruhe (OSKar) and Ghana Nuclear Society. He is currently the research coordinator for the Office of Research Services and Innovations responsible for student-faculty-industry research projects and activities.

IMG_4123Eric Adu-Gyamfi   joined the Office of Research Services and Innovations in February 2014. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Philosophy and Ghanaian Language from University of Cape Coast (UCC) and a Diploma in Journalism from Oxford Institute of Acting and Journalism.

In his role as a research assistant, Eric works closely with the research administrator on administrative research related duties. He also works with academic members of the project team in order to deliver project outcomes, assisting in the development and preparation of continuing funding opportunities, contributing to team decisions about research directions as well as offering general administrative support on research projects coordinated by the office. As a Sports correspondent, he performs extensive research, conduct interviews and attend events they are covering, such as games, tournaments and press conferences. As a tutor, he was responsible for assisting in the educational and social development of pupils and making a positive and regular contribution to the school’s extra-curricular and enrichment programme; leading, coaching and supporting students to develop their academic skills but also their sporting talents and outside interests.

His areas of specialization includes; ethics, metaphysics, phonology and customs. His career objective is to undertake a challenging career opportunity in research and ethics where he can utilize his broad training, skills and experience acquired. Before joining Ghana Technology University College, he worked with Price FM one of the leading radio stations in the Ashanti region as a sports correspondent and a tutor as well.
